Luis VAYAS-VALDIVIESO is a career diplomat of the Ecuadorian Foreign Service, with more than 30 years of experience, currently Ambassador of Ecuador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution. As a diplomat, he has served in the Ecuadorian Embassies in Sweden and Spain, as well as in the Permanent Representation of Ecuador to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition, in 2022 he was appointed as Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs; in 2021 as Vice-Minister of Human Mobility; and, previously, Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador.
