Nils Hesse studied Mechatronics and began his professional career as a Test Engineer in Chassis Development. Throughout his career, he has held a range of positions spanning product development and strategic functions, including roles as Concept Designer and Project Manager in Total Vehicle Development. He subsequently assumed responsibility for Product Strategy in the Compact Class, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the initial framework for the Neue Klasse architecture. Following this, Nils Hesse led Production Integration before being appointed Vice President for Organisational Development. In parallel, he was responsible for advancing Strategic Corporate Development initiatives within the BMW Group. In his current role as Vice President for Product Sustainability, he oversees key focus areas including Design for Circularity, Decarbonisation, Sustainability Reporting, and the associated IT enablement across the organisation.
